Step 1. To make napkin, turn under 1/8" along raw edges of blue teacup print 19 1/2" square; press. Turn pressed edge under 1/4" and topstitch. Make 2 napkins.

Step 2. For napkin ring, refer to Diagram I. Fold green plaid 3" x 6 1/2" strip in half lengthwise, right sides together. Stitch 1/4" from raw edge. Turn right side out. Press from raw edge. Turn right side out. Press tube flat, centering seam. Turn one end of tube inside 1/4" and press. Slide raw end through opening in pressed end; pin and hand stitch together. Make 2

Step 3. To complete napkin rings, refer to Finishing Touches and make 2 pink plaid yo-yos. Position yo-yo on napkin ring seam, add button and stitch in place.

Finishing Touches

Step 1. Add Satin-stitched Vine Refer to photo of project and use pencil to lightly mark continuous wavy line for vine on ivory fabric. Using green threads (cotton in bobbin and rayon in needle), machine satin stitch along pencil line.

Step 2. Fuse the Leaves
Trace Template B on paper side of paper-backed fusible web. Cut apart, leaving small margin beyond drawn line. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse to wrong side of appropriate fabric; cut apart on drawn line. Referring to table runner Assembly Diagram for placement, position template fabrics along vine. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse in place. Using tight machine satin stitch and coordinating thread, appliqué edges.

Step 3. Make Yo-yos Fold under 1/8" on outer edge of Template A fabric and hand sew a running stitch as shown in Diagram I-A. Pull end of thread to gather circle into yo-yo (see Diagram I-B) and knot off to secure. Center button on yo-yo and stitch button and yo-yo to project.
