This warm and inviting quilt is made entirely of soft cotton flannel. Very simple, this quilt could easily be made in a weekend. Choose any palette you wish when picking your fabrics, as this quilt lends itself to any choice of colors!
Cut!
Assorted plaid/stripe flannels—cut a total of:
... 94 rectangles 3 1/2" x 6 1/2"
... 10 squares 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Gold plaid flannel
... 2 strips 3 1/2" x 42", pieced from 3 width of fabric (WOF) strips
... 2 strips 3 1/2" x 58 ", pieced from 4 width of fabric (WOF) strips
Tan/black plaid flannel
... 2 strips 8 1/4" x 58", cut on lengthwise grain
... 2 strips 8 1/4" x 64", cut on lengthwise grain
Sew!
Note: Refer to Assembly Diagram and photo for following steps.
1. Stitch together 9 assorted rectangles, end to end, to make long pieced strip. Make 6 total. In same manner, stitch together 8 rectangles to make short pieced strip. Sew assorted square to each end of short pieced strip. Make 5 total.
2. Beginning with all-rectangle strip, sew pieced strips together, alternating. Stitch 3 1/2" x 58" gold plaid strips to sides of quilt; trim even with top/bottom. Stitch remaining gold plaid strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides.
3. Stitch 8 1/4" x 64" tan/black plaid strips to sides; trim even. Sew remaining tan/black plaid strips to top/bottom; trim even.

4. Layer, baste, and quilt (see Quiltmaking Fundamentals). Kelly machine ditch quilted the patches and added a meander in the green border. Bind with green print flannel.
