| Step 2. Stitch red plaid and blue plaid 3 3/4" half-square triangles to sides of travel ad print 4 1/2" square (Diagram II). Sew grey texture 4 7/8" half-square triangles to sides to make Square in a Square Block. Make 42.

Step 3. Note: The setting triangles on all edges and corners are cut slightly oversized to allow trimming quilt edges even after assembly. Referring to Assembly Diagram, arrange and sew 14 diagonal rows using dark blue plaid 14" quarter-square triangles and blocks (alternate style and watch orientation of Square in a Square Blocks). Sew rows together and stitch dark blue plaid 7" half-square triangles to corners. Trim edges even.
Step 4. Measure exact width of quilt (raw edge to raw edge). Trim red print 1 3/4" x 80" strips to this measurement and sew medium blue print 1 3/4" squares to ends. Sew red 1 3/4" x 92" strips to sides; trim even with top and bottom. Stitch pieced strips to top/bottom.

5. Again, measure exact width of quilt (raw edge to raw edge). Trim dark blue print 4" x 84" strips to this measurement and sew medium blue 4" squares to ends. Sew blue 4" x 94" strips to sides; trim even. Stitch pieced strips to top/bottom.

Step 6. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice. Quilters Dream batting was used in the twin-size quilt and it was machine quilted. A continuous line medallion was quilted on each block. An allover meander fills the setting triangles and borders. Bind quilt with dark blue print fabric (see Quiltmaking Fundamentals).
