Plan!
Maria added another strip of her focus fabric to each of the strip-pieced rectangles to get quarter blocks which, when properly arranged, make a striking pinwheel design. You may want to take some time to play with your quarter blocks on a design surface before assembling them into blocks, to see what other patterns emerge. Your next project idea could be an original design using this fun technique!

*Cut first.

Step 1. On wrong side of medium blue 6 3/8" square, draw diagonal line with marking tool of your choice. Referring to Diagram I, place medium blue square on dark blue 6 3/8" square, right sides together. Sew 1/4" seam on each side of marked line; cut apart on marked line. Press open to make pieced squares. Make 8. In same manner, make remaining pieced squares in colors and quantities shown.
