You Need:

Fabric Requirements
Medium blue solid (2 blocks, 2" border, binding) ... 1 1/4 yds.
Dark blue solid (background, sashing, inner and outer borders) ... 2 1/4 yds.
Sky blue solid (3 blocks) ... 3/8 yd.
Yellow solid (2 blocks) ... 3/8 yd.
Bright blue solid (3 blocks, 1" border) ... 3/4 yd.
Pale blue solid (2 blocks, sashing posts) ... 3/8 yd.
Backing (piece widthwise) ... 3 1/2 yds.
Batting ... Twin size
Sewing thread
Machine quilting thread

Plan!
Maria added another strip of her focus fabric to each of the strip-pieced rectangles to get quarter blocks which, when properly arranged, make a striking pinwheel design. You may want to take some time to play with your quarter blocks on a design surface before assembling them into blocks, to see what other patterns emerge. Your next project idea could be an original design using this fun technique!

... *4 strips 2 1/2" x 56", pieced from 6 width of fabric (WOF) strips
... 4 squares 6 3/8" x 6 3/8"
... 8 strips 1 1/2" x 6"
Dark blue solid
... *4 strips 4 1/2" x 60", pieced from 6 WOF strips
... *2 strips 1 1/2" x 52", pieced from 3 WOF strips
... *2 strips 1 1/2" x WOF
... 24 squares 6 3/8" x 6 3/8"
... 17 strips 1 1/2" x 11 1/2"
Sky blue solid
... 6 squares 6 3/8" x 6 3/8"
... 12 strips 1 1/2" x 6"

Yellow solid
... 4 squares 6 3/8" x 6 3/8"

*Cut first.

Step 1. On wrong side of medium blue 6 3/8" square, draw diagonal line with marking tool of your choice. Referring to Diagram I, place medium blue square on dark blue 6 3/8" square, right sides together. Sew 1/4" seam on each side of marked line; cut apart on marked line. Press open to make pieced squares. Make 8. In same manner, make remaining pieced squares in colors and quantities shown.
