Fruit Strip Cutouts

web bonus

This kid-safe technique adds fun to any holiday or celebration. Kids will love this simple way to dress up cupcakes, cookies, and other desserts. All you need is some fruit leather (Fruit Roll-ups® are one brand of fruit leather), cookie cutters, and a touch of nonstick spray.

Unroll your fruit leather and place in the refrigerator to chill for 20 minutes. Remove from fridge and lay on countertop or cutting board. Lightly apply nonstick spray to your cookie cutter and cut out cookie shape from fruit leather as you would with dough. Reapply spray if cookie cutter becomes sticky.

Cutout shapes can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container until you’re ready to decorate. They also make a fun treat to eat out-of-hand. For cupcakes, make as directed from packaged mix or favorite recipe. You can even buy ready-made cupcakes at the store. Frost, if needed, and place cutouts as desired. Enjoy!
