Sew
Step 1. Draw diagonal line on wrong side of brown 2 7/8" square. Referring to Diagram I, place brown square on aqua 2 7/8" square, right sides together. Sew 1/4" seam on each side of marked line; cut apart on marked line. Press open to make small piece squares. Make 8.
Step 2. Sew 2 small pieced squares, and rust and aqua 2 1/2" squares together (Diagram II) to make large pieced square. Make 4.
Step 3. Sew 2 large pieced squares and 2 aqua 4 1/2" squares together (Diagram III) to make Pieced Block. Make 2.

Step 4. Trace Templates A-E on paper side of paper-backed fusible web. Cut apart, leaving small margin beyond drawn lines. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse to wrong side of appropriate fabrics; cut apart on drawn lines.
Step 5. Finger-press 8 1/2" aqua square in half lengthwise and crosswise; use folds as placement guide. Referring to Diagram IV-A and photos, position template fabrics. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse in place to make Rose Block. Appliqué edges using machine buttonhole stitch (Diagram IV-B). Make 2.
Step 6. Referring to Pillow Top Assembly Diagram, arrange and sew 2 rows of 2 blocks each, alternating. Sew rows together. Stitch dark brown 16 1/2" strips to sides. Sew remaining dark brown strips to top/bottom to complete pillow top.

Step 7. To make ruffle, sew short ends of aqua 120" strip right sides together, to make a continuous loop. Press in half lengthwise with wrong sides together, aligning raw edges (Diagram V). Leaving a long starting/stopping thread, machine baste raw edges of ruffle loop together, a scant 1/4" from edge. Pull on thread to gather to approximately 80". Place pillow top right side up. Pin ruffle on pillow top, aligning raw edges, and adjusting gathers as needed. Baste ruffle in place using a scant 1/4" seam allowance.
Step 8. Layer pillow top (ruffle positioned towards pillow center) with aqua 20 1/2" square, right sides together. Sew around outside edge using 1/4" seam allowance, leaving a 10" opening on one side for turning (Diagram VI). Turn right side out. Insert pillow form and hand stitch opening closed.
