Step 1. Place
2 7/8" light tan square on top of red/green plaid 2 7/8" square,
right sides together. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on wrong
side of cream square. Stitch 1/4" on each side of drawn line. Cut
apart on drawn line and press out to make triangle squares (See Diagram
I). Make 8 triangle squares.
Step 2. Stitch red metallic 2 7/8"
half-square triangle to each side of light tan print quarter-square triangle
to make pieced rectangle (see Diagram II). Make 4. continue in same manner
with red half-square triangles and dark tan print quarter-square triangles.
Make 8 pieced rectangles.

Step 3. Referring to Diagram
III-A, sew dark tan 2 7/8" half-square triangle to one side of
off-white 3 5/16" square. Stitch red/green plaid half-square triangle
to opposite side of off-white square. Referring to Diagram III-B, stitch
dark tan print and red/green plaid half-square triangles to remaining
sides of off-white square. Make 4 dark tan/plaid square-in-squares.
Using Christmas print 3 5/16" square and red metallic half-square
triangles, make 1 square-in-square (see Diagram III-C). Sew red/light
tan pieced rectangles to dark tan/plaid square-in-squares (see Diagram
III-D) to make 4 square-in-square units.

Step 4. Using
dark tan 2 1/2" square, red/dark tan pieced rectangles, green 2
1/2" squares, and off-white 2 1/2" square, make pieced block
(see Diagram IV). Make 4 pieced blocks. Referring to Assembly Diagram,
use pieced blocks, square-in-square units, and red/Christmas print square-in-square
to make 3 horizontal rows. Sew rows together.
