*Cut first.

Step 1. Referring to Diagram I-A, draw diagonal line on wrong side of yellow print 2 1/2" square with marking tool of your choice. Place yellow square on red print 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangle, right sides together, aligning raw edges. Stitch on drawn line. Trim and discard excess fabric; press open. Repeat on opposite end of red rectangle to make pieced rectangle. Make 16. Arrange and sew 3 rows using black print 2 1/2" squares, pieced rectangles, and black print 4 1/2" square (see Diagram I-B). Sew rows together to make Star Block. Make 4.
