Step 5 (Digest-size Book Cover)
Sew red 3/4" x 8 1/2" strip to each side of cream 1"
x 8 1/2" strip (see Diagram IX). Referring to Diagram X, add navy
rectangles to make pieced top. To make lining, turn under 1/4"
of one long edge of muslin 2 1/4" x 8 1/2" rectangle and stitch.
Sew 2" x 8 1/2" muslin strips together along long edges. Turn
right side out and press. Referring to Diagram XI, pin hemmed rectangle
and sewn strips on large muslin rectangle. Layer pieced top and lining
right sides together, and sew around outer edge leaving opening for
turning. Turn right side out and sew opening closed.
