Step 7 (Basket Liner)
Referring to Diagram X, stitch 3 1/2 x 8" teal
border strip, 1 3/4" x 8" white strips, and 1 1/2" x 8"
teal check strips to make pieced unit. Measure 3 1/2" in from corners
on one end and mark. Align rotary cutting ruler with marks and cut corners.
Make 4. Stitch pieced unit to each edge of 8" teal solid square (see
Diagram XI). Place basket liner on top of 23" white-on-white square,
right sides together. Cut white square to match outer edges of basket
liner. Sew 1/4" from outer edge, leaving 3" opening to turn
right side out. Turn, press, and stitch opening closed. To finish, top
stitch 1/8" from outer edge.
