Planning
To speed up the fusible appliqué process, Julie secured the appliqué
raw edges while completing the quilting. She stitched
along the appliqué edges using monofilament
thread. We instruct you to do likewise.
To add a message to the white rectangle (see bottom
border), follow the instructions in Step 5. Because this border is pieced,
the three rectangles are not cut oversized. If you prefer to give yourself
a little insurance, cut the stripe 3" x 8 1/2" rectangles
slightly long and take care to center the white rectangle when stitching
this border to your quilt; trim even after adding to quilt.

Step 1
Referring to Diagram I, stitch together blue, green, and floral rectangles.
Finger-press pieced rectangle in half on both length and width; use
folds as placement guide. Using black fine-tip permanent marker, draw
flower stems on pieced background (see Diagram II). Trace over stems
with green marker and add green curlicues.
