Step 1
Referring to Diagram I, sew 4-patch square using 2 cream print 3" squares and 2 matching assorted plaid/check 3" squares. Make 25 matching pairs. In same manner, use 2 red print 3" squares and 2 matching assorted plaid/check 3" squares; make 24 matching pairs. To make 4-patch square for border corner, use 2 cream print 3" squares and 2 assorted plaid/check 3" squares; make 4 total and set aside.

Step 4
Measure exact width of quilt (raw edge to raw edge). Trim 2 navy plaid 5 1/2" x 78" strips to exact width measurement; sew 4-patch squares to ends of trimmed strips. Stitch untrimmed navy plaid strips to sides of quilt; trim even with top/bottom. Stitch pieced strips to top/bottom.

Step 5
Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice. Maria machine ditch quilted. Bind quilt with red print fabric (See Basic Quiltmaking Instructions).
