Step 3. Refer to Diagram III to make Basket Block (see Planning). Referring to Diagram III, stitch green print and ivory/ green mini star print 6 7/8" half-square triangles together to make pieced square. Sew pieced 3-patch strip to side and 4-patch strip to top. Add ivory/green pieced strips to remaining sides. Sew ivory/green mini star print 4 7/8" half-square triangle to corner. Make 2.

Step 4. Trace templates on paper side of paper-backed fusible web. Cut apart, leaving small margin beyond drawn lines. Following manufacturer’s instructions, fuse to wrong side of appropriate fabrics; cut apart on drawn line.
Step 5. To complete Basket Block, position Template A/AR fabrics (see photo and Diagram III). Following manufacturer’s instructions, fuse in place. Appliqué edges by hand or machine using buttonhole stitch (see Diagram IV). Make 2 Basket Blocks.

Step 6. To prepare squares for corners of table runner, fuse Template B fabric to ivory/green mini star 3 1/2" square; buttonhole stitch edges. Make 4.
Step 7. Referring to Assembly Diagram, sew blocks together with ivory/green mini star print 16 1/4" quarter-square triangles and 8 1/2" half-square triangles. Stitch green texture 1" x 18" strips to short sides of table runner; trim even. Stitch remaining green texture strips to long sides; trim even.
Step 8. Measure exact length of long side of table runner top (raw edge to raw edge). Trim red-on-red print 3 1/2" x WOF strips to exact length measurement; sew prepared star corner squares to ends of trimmed strips. Stitch untrimmed 3 1/2" x 18" red-on-red strips to short sides; trim even. Stitch pieced strips to long sides.

Step 9. Layer and baste table runner top for quilting method of your choice. Rhonda machine quilted a meander in the background, ditch quilted the blocks, and stitched crosswise lines (spaced 2") in the red border. By hand, she outlined the appliqués and stitched an X in each basket handle square. Bind quilt with cream/green/ red print fabric (see Quiltmaking Fundamentals). Using ivory embroidery floss, tie square knot in center of each star; trim ends to desired length.

Step 10. Prepare Template A/AR fabrics with fusible web (see Step 4 and Planning). Position on corner of green print 18" square. Following manufacturer’s instructions, fuse in place. Appliqué edges by hand or machine using buttonhole stitch (see Diagram IV). Make 4.
Step 11. Layer appliquéd green print 18" square on cream/green/ red print 18" square, right sides together. Using 1/4" seam allowance, stitch around all sides, leaving 4" opening for turning. Clip excess fabric at corners. Turn right side out. Hand stitch opening closed. With green thread, stitch 1/4" from edge around all sides. Make 4 napkins.
