Plan It!
Kathleen used flannel fabrics to create an especially cozy winter quilt. To add interest, she varied the angle of the mittens on the background fabric, and she reversed a number of the mittens. Do likewise if you wish.

Step 1. Referring to Diagram I, stitch pieced square using navy snowman print and cream/ navy star print 8 3/8" half-square triangles. Make 21.

Step 2. Sew navy texture 3" x WOF strips to sides of navy-on-cream snowflake print 3" x WOF strip, as shown in Diagram II-A. Make 2. Press in direction of arrows. Cut 22 segments 3" wide.
Step 3. In same manner, make strip set shown in Diagram II-B, using 3" x WOF navy-on-cream snowflake print and red texture strips. Press in direction of arrows. Cut 11 segments 3"wide. Sew strip segments together to make Nine-patch Block (see Diagram II-C). Make 11.
