Step 2. Referring to Assembly Diagram and photo, position template fabrics in alphabetical order. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse in place. Appliqué using machine zigzag stitch (Diagram I). With black marker, color cats' eyes and add facial features (see Templates B & H). Use orange marker to draw sun's face (see Template N). Assembly Diagram Diagram I Step 3. Sew 3 1/2" x 31" blue texture strips to sides of Appliqué Block; trim even with top and bottom. Sew remaining blue strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides. Fuse and zigzag stitch remaining appliquéd flowers and leaves to corners. Step 4. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice. Julie machine quilted around each template fabric and echo quilted the three design elements. She filled the background with a meander stitch. The border features a diamond cable design. Bind quilt with blue texture fabric (see Quiltmaking Fundamentals). Step 5. Sew white/black button to the center of each flower.
