Step 3. Trace Templates A-F on paper side of paper-backed fusible web. Cut apart, leaving small margin beyond drawn lines. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse to wrong side of appropriate fabrics; cut apart on drawn lines.
Step 4. Finger-press 4 assorted ivory/beige print 8" x 10 1/2" rectangles in half on both length and width; use folds as placement guide. Referring to photo and Diagram III-A and III-B, position template fabrics in alphabetical order. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse in place. Rhonda machine buttonhole stitched the appliqué using black thread. Do likewise by machine or hand (Diagram IV).
Step 5. Rhonda used a running stitch (Diagram V) and embroidery floss to stitch the details on each block. Green embroidery floss was used for the flower stems, blue for the bee's flight path, red for the bee's antennae, and black around the beehive holes. Stitch ivory/green print 2 1/2" x 8" strip to each appliquéd block as shown in Diagram III-A and III-B.
Step 6. Referring to Assembly Diagram, arrange and stitch pieced rectangle segments to sides of appliquéd blocks to make squares. Sew 2 rows of 2 squares each. Sew rows together. Measure width of quilt top from raw edge to raw edge. Trim two 3 1/2" x WOF beige/blue floral strips to this measurement and stitch assorted ivory/beige 3 1/2" squares to ends. Sew untrimmed beige/blue floral strips to sides of quilt top; trim even with top/bottom. Stitch pieced strips to top and bottom. Position and fuse Template F fabrics to border corner squares; finish edges by machine or hand buttonhole stitch.

Step 7. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice. Rhonda outline quilted the appliqué and embroidery stitches by hand. By machine, she added a meander on the ivory/green strips and border, and she stitched a lengthwise curlicue pattern through the geese strips. Bind quilt with beige print fabric (see Quiltmaking Fundamentals). Using gold embroidery floss, stitch assorted button to each flower center. Tack a soft tied bow below each black hole of the beehives (see Planning).
