Step 2. Trace Template A on paper side of paper-backed fusible web. Cut apart, leaving small margin beyond drawn lines. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse to wrong side of appropriate fabrics; cut apart on drawn lines.
Step 3. Carefully position Template A fabric on white-on-white 10 1/4" quarter-square triangle, 2 1/4" above raw edge of longest side of triangle, aligning raw ends with raw edges of background triangle (Diagram II-A). Note: Template A fabric ends will be caught in seam when Basket Blocks are assembled. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse in place. Use a machine zigzag or buttonhole stitch with monofilament thread to secure appliqué edges. Sew matching pair of triangles together to make handle triangle (Diagram II-B). Make 6 total.

Step 4. On wrong side of white 2 3/8" square, draw diagonal line with marking tool of your choice. Referring to Diagram III-A, place white square on assorted print 2 3/8" square, right sides together. Sew 1/4" seam on each side of marked line; cut apart on marked line. Press open to make pieced squares. Make 12 total. Using matching pair of pieced squares, sew to 2" x 7 1/2" white strips, taking care to follow arrangement (Diagram III-B). Make 1 of each arrangement for each basket fabric.

Step 5. Stitch pieced strip to assorted print 6 7/8" half-square triangle (Diagram IV). Sew white 2" square to end of coordinating pieced strip and sew to triangle. Align acrylic ruler with raw edge of print triangle and use rotary cutter to trim away excess length from strip ends. Make 6 total basket base triangles. Sew handle triangle to basket base triangle to make Basket Block (Diagram V). Make 6 total.

Step 6. Note: The setting triangles on all edges and corners are cut oversized to allow trimming quilt edges even after assembly. Referring to Assembly Diagram, arrange and sew 6 diagonal rows using blocks and white 15" quarter-square triangles. Sew rows together. Stitch white 8" half-square triangles to corners. Trim quilt edges even.
Step 7. Sew yellow texture 1 1/2" x 56" strips to sides; trim even with top and bottom. Stitch remaining yellow strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides. Sew 5" x 58" purple small floral strips to sides; trim even. Stitch remaining purple strips to top/bottom; trim even.

Step 8. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice. Vicki machine quilted using a heart-shaped motif that is echoed in a clamshell style. Bind quilt with purple small floral fabric (see Quiltmaking Fundamentals).
