Sew It!
Table Runner
Step 1. Referring to Diagram I-A, sew 3 1/2" x WOF red strip, 2 1/2" x WOF green strip, and 1 1/2" x WOF blue strip together to make strip set. Make 2. Press in direction of arrow. Cut into 10 segments 3 1/2" wide, 10 segments 2 1/2" wide, and 10 segments 1 1/2" wide (Diagram I-B). Sew 3 1/2", 2 1/2", and 1 1/2" segment together to make Snowflake Block A (Diagram II-A). Make 6. In same manner, and watching orientation of strips, arrange and sew segments together to make Snowflake Block B (Diagram II-B). Make 4.

Step 2. Referring to Table Runner Assembly Diagram, arrange and sew 2 rows of 5 blocks each. Sew rows together. Measure exact length of table runner (from raw edge to raw edge). Trim two 3 1/2" x 34" cream snowman print strips to this measurement and sew red print 3 1/2" squares to ends. Stitch cream snowman print 3 1/2" x 16" strips to short sides; trim even with long sides. Sew pieced strips to long sides. Skip to Step 5 for appliqué and finishing.

Place Mats
Step 3. Make 2 strip sets as in Step 1 and Diagram I-A. Cut into 8 segments 3 1/2" wide, 8 segments 2 1/2" wide, and 8 segments 1 1/2" wide (Diagram I-B). Sew segments together to make 4 Snowflake Block A and 4 Snowflake Block B (Diagrams II-A and B).
Step 4. Referring to Place Mat Assembly Diagram and watching orientation of blocks, use cream snowman print 12 1/2" square, 1 Snowflake Block A and 1 Snowflake Block B to make place mat top. Make 4.

Step 5. Mark 3" squares on paper side of paper-backed fusible web (14 for table runner; 8 for place mats). Cut apart. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse to wrong side of white texture 3" squares. Keeping paper side out, fold prepared square in quarters. Trace Template A onto paper, and cutting through all 4 layers at once, cut out snowflake and snowflake center. Make 14 for table runner, 8 for place mats. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse snowflake to center of each large red square (see photo).
Step 6. Layer and baste table runner/ place mats for quilting method of your choice. Sandy machine quilted a meander pattern throughout. Bind runner/mats with red mottle fabric (see Quiltmaking Fundamentals).
Napkins
Step 7. Fold 1/2" to wrong side of red print 18 1/2" square and press. Open fold, then turn raw edge in to meet fold; press. Repeat on remaining edges. Topstitch using scant 1/4" seam allowance to make napkin. Make 4.
