Traditional quilt designs like this one are great for digging into your stash and using up some of those red, blue and navy fabrics. Pair the scrappy pieced blocks with a focus fabric (like this large blue floral from Moda) and you've tied them all together. Repeat the colors in the borders and you've got a quilt to be proud of! Lissa used some of the blue floral and red border fabrics in the blocks to tie the quilt together.
You Need:
Assorted medium to dark prints, checks & plaids
1 3/4 - 2 1/4 yds. total
Assorted light prints, stripes & checks 1 - 1 1/2 yds. total
Large blue floral 1 3/4 yds.
Red print (inner border) 3/4 yd.
Blue stripe (outer border, bias binding) 3 1/4 yds.
Backing (piece widthwise) 5 3/8 yds.

Assorted medium to dark prints, checks & plaids
Cut a total of:
... 20 strips 1 1/2" x width of fabric (WOF)
Cut 20 sets of:
... 4 matching squares, 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Assorted light prints, stripes & checks
Cut a total of:
16 strips 1 1/2" x WOF
Large blue floral
... 4 squares 15" x 15", cut in half diagonally twice to make 16 quarter-square triangles (2 left over)
... 12 squares 9 1/2" x 9 1/2"
... 2 squares 8" x 8", cut in half diagonally to make 4 half-square triangles
Red print
... 4 strips 2 1/2" x 70", pieced from 8 WOF strips
Blue stripe
... 4 strips 9 1/2" x 77", cut on lengthwise grain
