Sew It!
1. See Diagram I-A and sew assorted medium/dark print, check & plaid 1 1/2" x WOF strips to sides of assorted light prints, stripes & checks 1 1/2" x WOF strip. Make 8 total. Press in direction of arrows. Cut 200 segments 1 1/2" wide. In same manner, make strip set using 2 assorted light and 1 assorted medium to dark 1 1/2" x WOF strips (Diagram I-B). Press. Make 4 total. Cut 100 segments 1 1/2 wide.
2. Arrange and stitch strip segments together (Diagram II). Make 100 total nine-patches.

3. Arrange and stitch 3 rows using nine-patches and matching assorted medium/dark print 3 1/2" squares to make Double Nine-patch Block (Diagram III). Make 20 total.

4. Note: The setting triangles on all edges and corners are cut oversized to allow trimming quilt edges even after assembly. Referring to Assembly Diagram, sew 8 diagonal rows using blocks, blue floral 15" quarter-square triangles and blue floral 9 1/2" squares. Sew rows together. Sew blue floral 8" half-square triangles to corners. Trim quilt edges even.
5. Sew red print 2 1/2" x 70" strips to sides; trim even with top and bottom. Stitch remaining red print strips to top/bottom; trim even. Sew blue stripe 9 1/2" x 77" strips to sides; trim even. Stitch remaining blue stripe strips to top/bottom; trim even.

6. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice. Lissa machine quilted a diagonal line through the center of, and a circle around, each nine-patch, and repeated the same pattern in the blue floral squares and setting triangles. She quilted a scallop design in the red border, and filled the wide blue stripe border with feathers and a geometrical meandering design. Bind quilt with bias-cut blue stripe fabric (see Quiltmaking Fundamentals).
