Michele's intriguing blocks are cut from strip sets for easy construction. Careful handling of the blocks is necessary during assembly, to ensure the bias-cut edges do not stretch out of shape. The setting triangles are made and cut to exact size, so be sure to measure and sew accurately. Mitering striped borders makes the most effective use of the fabric design. We provide step by step instructions for basic mitering on page 64.
The cream 12 1/2" squares were cut on the bias for the feature quilt, so the floral motifs all "read" in an upright direction. To do likewise, purchase 4 3/4 yds. of this fabric.

Sew
1. Referring to Diagram I-A, make 8 strip sets. Press in direction of arrows.
2. Place 12 1/2" square template plastic diagonally on strip set, aligning points with center (green/tan) seam line (Diagram I-B). Mark along edge of template and cut out to make Pathway Block. Cut 16.
