Step 2. Arrange and sew 2 rows of 2 matching pieced squares each (Diagram II-A). Sew rows together to make large pieced square. Sew light blue 2 1/2" x 4 1.2" strips to sides of large pieced square (Diagram II-B) to make pieced rectangle. Stitch matching assorted blue/brown pieced squares to ends of matching brown 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangle (Diagram II-C) and stitch to bottom of pieced rectangle. Sew light blue 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" strip to bottom (Diagram II-D) to complete Sailboat Block. Make 20 total.

Step 3. Select 4 blocks for top horizontal row of quilt and sew light blue 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" strip to top edge of each (Diagram III).

Step 4. Referring to Assembly Diagram, arrange and sew 4 vertical rows using top block (made in Step 3) plus 4 blocks each. Stitch dark blue texture 2" x 54" strips between block rows. Sew dark blue texture 3" x 54" strips to sides Trim sashing and border edges even with top and bottom of block strips. Stitch remaining dark blue texture strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides.

Step 5. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice. Jean machine quilted a meander in the background of the blocks and ditch quilted the sashing and border. Bind quilt with dark blue texture fabric (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions).
