Step 1. Referring to Diagram I, draw diagonal line on wrong side of cream 3 1/2" square with marking tool of your choice. Place cream square on 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" blue dot rectangle, aligning raw edges. Stitch on drawn line. Trim and discard excess fabric; press open. Repeat on opposite end of blue rectangle to make Flying Geese Block. Make 16. In the same manner, sew cream squares to pink dot and green dot rectangles to make 16 Flying Geese Blocks of each color.

Step 2. Arrange and stitch 12 Flying Geese Blocks into a vertical strip, alternating colors as shown in Assembly Diagram. Make 4. Stitch 3 green texture 2 1/2" x WOF strips between Flying Geese Block strips. Trim even with top and bottom of blocks. Stitch 2 green 2 1/2" x WOF strips to sides; trim even with top/bottom. Sew remaining green strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides. Sew blue floral 3 1/2" x WOF strips to sides; trim even. Sew remaining blue floral strips to top/bottom; trim even.

Step 3. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice. Julie machine outline stitched the large triangles, ditch quilted the inside borders, and meander quilted the outside borders. Stop quilting 1" from outside edges. Trim batting even with quilt top (see Quiltmaking Fundamentals).
Step 4. To make prairie points, fold 3 1/2" squares in half diagonally twice, wrong sides together (Diagram II). Lay points along edge of quilt, nesting points so they overlap approximately 3/4" along raw edge. Adjust as needed to fit 24 per long side and 21 per short side. Pin in place, making sure the quilt backing is out of the way. Using 1/4" seam allowance, sew prairie points to quilt top/batting. (Diagram III). Turn and press prairie points out. Turn under backing seam allowance to cover the stitching line and use a blindstitch to finish the edges (see Quiltmaking Lesson).
