Sew!
1. A Draw diagonal line on wrong side of white print 3 3/8" square. Referring to Diagram I, place marked square on green/yellow print 3 3/8" square, right sides together. Sew  1/4" seam on each side of marked line; cut apart on marked line. Press open to make pieced squares. Make 24. Make remaining pieced squares in colors and quantities shown.

2. Referring to Diagram II, sew 4 matching pieced squares together to make Pinwheel Block. Make 20 total, in colors and quantities shown.

3. Sew 4 block rows using 5 blocks each (Assembly Diagram). Stitch turquoise print 1" x 28" strip to long sides of 3 novelty stripe strips. Alternating block rows with novelty stripe rows, sew rows together; trim strips even with block rows.

4. Stitch turquoise print 1 1/2" x WOF strips to sides; trim even with top and bottom. Stitch remaining turquoise print strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides. Sew pink print 4 1/2" x WOF strips to sides; trim even with top and bottom. Sew remaining pink print strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides. Sew green print 2" x 48" strips to sides; trim even. Sew remaining green strips to top/bottom; trim.
5. Measure width of quilt from raw edge to raw edge. Trim 2 novelty bug print 5 1/2" x WOF strips to this measurement and sew turquoise print squares to ends. Sew untrimmed novelty bug print strips to sides; trim even. Sew pieced strips to top/bottom.
6. Trace Templates A-P on paper side of paper-backed fusible web. Cut apart, leaving small margin beyond drawn lines. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse to wrong side of appropriate fabrics; cut apart on drawn lines.
7. Using seam lines as placement guide and referring to photo, position template fabrics in alphabetical order. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse in place. Machine buttonhole stitch (Diagram III) around appliqué. Stem stitch (Diagram IV) antennae and mouths of bees with 2 strands of black embroidery floss (see templates for placement).

8. Layer, baste, and quilt. The feature quilt was machine quilted with random curlicues in the pink border and novelty strips. Stitch-in-the-ditch quilting was used in the block rows, with hearts quilted in the turquoise corner squares. Bind with green print (see Quiltmaking Fundamentals).
