UNITED QUILTS OF AMERICA PROJECT
In a NATIONWIDE effort to support the families of the victims affected by the tragedy of 9-11-01 at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, in Pennsylvania and elsewhere, all quilters, crafters and needleworkers are asked to donate their talents by making a finished QUILT BLOCK measuring 16" X 16" (finished size).
Red, white and blue patriotic themes are desirable, but other colors will be accepted, too. These blocks will be sewn together, as they are collected, by project volunteers to form individual quilts. When enough quilts are constructed, they will be donated to the families as a show of support and in honor of their loved ones who have given so much to our country.
Send finished (16" X 16") quilt blocks to: UNITED QUILTS OF AMERICA PROJECT, PO Box 775, Suffern, New York 10901; e-mail: Suite6@aol.com. Please attach your name, street address, phone number and e-mail address to each block submitted. If there is a particular family who is a candidate for one of these quilts, attach their name, address and phone number to the block, too. If you would like to express your sentiments regarding the tragedy of 9-11-01, feel free to do so along with your block donation.
If someone is unable to submit a quilt block, but would like to contribute to the UNITED QUILTS OF AMERICA PROJECT FUND, donations can be made to help purchase thread, material and batting. This will enable volunteers to finish the individual quilts. Please note that this is a nonprofit endeavor and all contributions of time, effort and materials are strictly voluntary.
It is estimated that more than 45,000 blocks are needed to make this project a success...Every block counts ... so, please pass this information along to others, both locally and NATIONALLY ... Your Hearts and your Hands can make a difference to those who need it most.

Squares that Care: Please help us in remembering the victims of New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. We are putting together three memorial quilts to show love and support for the victims and their families. Be involved-show how much you care! Until november 1, 2001 we will be accepting quilt squares to be included in the quilts. Squares must be 12x12 inches and can be any kind of memorial you wish. They can be sewn, painted, appliqued-there are no construction limits. Please line your square with 1/2" batting and use red, white, blue, or any combo of these colors for the backing. Please include on the front of the square your name and your city/state (no addresses). Send finished squares only (no other donations, please!) to: Squares that Care, #8101, 1646 W. Hwy 160, Suite E, Fort Mill, SC 29708-8024. Squares must be received by November 1 to be included. We want to be able to put the quilt together in time to present it for Christmas. This is a way to do something to show support and unity in the face of this terrible tragedy. If you need more information please e-mail: squaresthatcare@aol.com
Thanks,
Annamarie & Jennie
