72 squares 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
... 36 squares 4 1/4" x 4 1/4", cut twice diagonally to make quarter-square triangles - yield: 144 triangles
... 3 squares 14 1/2" x 14 1/2", cut diagonally twice to make quarter-square "setting triangles" - yield: 12 triangles (2 left over)
... 2 squares 7 3/4" x 7 3/4", cut once diagonally to make half-square triangles - yield: 4 triangles.

Red #1
... 36 squares 4 1/4" x 4 1/4", cut twice diagonally to make quarter-square triangles - yield: 144 triangles ... 2 strips 1 1/2" x WOF (width of fabric)
... 2 strips 1 1/2" x 53, pieced from 3 WOF strips

Red #2 ... 17 hearts (appliqué template)

Blue print ... 18 squares 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"

Piecing the Blocks -
1.
Referring to Diagram I, make 72 pieced-square sub units.

2. Referring to Diagram II, sew pieced-squares to 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" cream and blue print squares. Sew rows together to make Ohio Star Block. Make 18 total.
